aLL YOU NEED TO KNOW

 about our online classes

  • Ballet 1 is a Classical Ballet class for adults with no/little experience in dance. It is suitable for people who never did Ballet in their lives and for those who tried it but are not very experienced dancers. The focus is on establishing the foundations of ballet technique, expressiveness and musicality, following the guidelines by the Royal Academy of Dance.

  • Ballet General is suitable for dancers of all levels who have had at least 6 months of ballet classes before. It is a free class, with work at the barre and centre, led by either Miss Inês or Miss Teresa.

  • Ballet 2 is suitable for dancers who have done Ballet in the past. At this level, students will learn the RAD Intermediate Foundation syllabus, where they are expected to be familiarised with Ballet vocabulary and to have a solid base in classical dancing. Students will need Miss Inês’ approval to enter this level.

  • Ballet 3 is suitable for dancers who have done Ballet 2 with us and are ready to move up. At this level, students will learn the RAD Intermediate syllabus, where they are expected to be comfortable with Ballet vocabulary and technique, and to demonstrate a strong sense of musicality and artistry. Students will need Miss Inês’ approval to enter this level.

  • This class works your feet's and legs’ strength, alignment and mobility, even if you are not dancing on pointe yet! In each class, students are carefully observed and guided so that they can progress safely and achieve their goals of dancing en pointe. This lesson is suitable for both Ballet 1 and Ballet 2 students. No pointe shoes should be bought without the approval of the teacher.

  • This class is tailored for students taking the Ballet 3 lesson who are already en pointe. It will consist of RAD Intermediate and free work in both barre and centre. Students need Miss Inês's approval to join this class, to have completed a sufficient number of Pointe 1 classes and to take regular Ballet and conditioning lessons.

  • A class led by Miss Teresa where every week dancers will learn in depth about a single ballet movement (a pirouette, a glissade, a developpé…) to improve technique and stamina. This class is open to all students from Ballet General and above.

  • In Classical Repertoire we will learn adapted versions of the most famous Ballet choreographies, from Swan Lake to the Nutcracker. These are great opportunities to enter deeper into the Ballet world and to dress the skin of your favourite characters, while looking into the necessary technique to achieve beautiful balances, pirouettes, jumps and leaps.

  • Core Training is a class for the strength and mobility of the abdominal, spinal and arm muscles. It helps increasing balance and core stability while reducing back pain and improving posture. Since dance movements are mainly supported by our abdominal and spinal muscles, this class is a key addition to any schedule.

  • Flexibility Training was made to thank our bodies by carefully stretching and lengthening every muscle. Stretching is vital for a healthy body, prevents muscular injuries and increases posture. Expect to visibly increase your flexibility and finish every class as if you are levitating.

  • Legs Training classes are workouts for all leg muscles, including quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes and calves. The main focus is to build strength, stamina and endurance you need to keep a healthy dance practice. Every week, a different combination of exercises will improve your fitness level, accompanied by the most energetic playlists, a good amount of sweat and the best laughs.

  • Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focussing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. The program helps with injury prevention and rehabilitation and enhances the ability of athletes to perform at their best. PBT focuses on core strength, weight placement and alignment of the body with a gradual approach of carefully designed exercises and repetitions of these exercises that trigger their muscle memory.

For PBT class you will also need a yoga mat, a pilates/swiss ball, a resistance band, two medium softballs, lacrosse/massage/squash ball and yoga blocks (optional).

  • For all classes, comfortable sportswear is a good option (like leggings/shorts and top/t-shirt) and socks. However, we advise ballet gear for Ballet classes (female/male uniform, tights, skirt (for those who wish), waist elastic and ballet canvas shoes), although none of these is mandatory.

You can opt to purchase our STUDIO B Uniform produced by Ballet Rosa if you wish. Avoid elements that interfere with movement like fringes, hanging objects and jewellery. Long hair should be securely tied, preferably in a bun for Ballet classes.
